Die Wiener Komplett-Aufnahme
These two CDs have been recorded in Vienna in 1988 and
offer two hours of Les Misérables. But the company sings
the original German lyrics, I am afraid.
And unfortunately the quality of this recording is only as good
as every other recording TEN years ago .... .
But everyone who is interested in "The Wretched"
should buy it.

Französische Originalaufnahme - 1980
This is a very special recording because the two cd s include songs you won`t find any more for this is a very early version of Les Misérables which contains characters and parts of the novel which have been left out in the final musical so that you can understand the story better.
For example BRING HIM HOME or
EMPTY CAHAIRS AND EMPTY TABLES were missing then.

Royal Albert Hall in London. But you have to speak English very well to understand the lyrics for there is no textbook.

Original London Cast
These two CDs called "Original London Cast" were the first British Recording of Les Misérables. Stars from West-End and Broadway (for example Michael Ball, Colm Wilkinson, Frances Ruffelle) are singing songs which have been put off the show now. `I saw him once` is for example a very melodic song which was placed directly before `In my life` and is a soliloquy of Cosette.

And who wants to have a real COMPLETE impression of
Les Misérables should have a look at the `Complete Symphonic Recording` which has been recorded in 1988.
And an symphonic nearly 70 music including orchestra provides amous performers like Michael Ball (Marius),
Debbie Byrne (Fantine), Garry Morris (Valjean) or the uncompareable Anthony Warlow.

In the new version the third disc contains all videos from the "Interactive-CD".

But looking at this unbelieveable price you should think twice
if the TAC isn`t better - especially because of the lower price.
But decide on your own...

Original Broadway Cast
The premiere-cast from the most popular "mile of musical"
is audible on these two cd s. But the actors sing not very
emotial - especially the first US-Javert Terence Mann. Colm
Wilkinson is a very well exception. And if I consider the
advantages and disadvantages I draw the conclussion that this
recording is nevertheless recommendable.

The Chicago Musical Revue Plays Selections from.....

On this cd of the year 1996 you will find 13 songs of the musical played by "The Chicago Musical Revue".
There is also a medley as last track on this cd.

The orchestration sounds very "strange" without exception and the voices of the actors are "not good" as well.
I think they all eat some sleeping pills before recording this cd. Besides this the lyrics are modified and not to its best. Every one who has never seen the muscial before and wants to get a first impressio of its fantastic music should give that cd a wide berth !!
The cd really acts as a deterrent !!!!
A perfect birthday present for all who wants to antagonize someone. ;-)

What to say about this cd?
The fact that Javert is played by only ONE person says all about it. The orchestration is very bad and much to slow.
Mmm... let me say something positive about the cd....

Original Japanese Soundtrack (Kaga Version)
This is actually the red cast of two live cast albums (the other
one is blue with Sakae Takita) released in Japan, with Takeshi Kaga as Valjean and Kaho Shimada (featured in the CSR) as Eponine. The rumblings of the turntable set can be heard sometimes, as well as sporadic audience applause, but on the whole its a fine album for Les Misérables fans.

It does not really include every song of the musical but bringing together a dream cast (Anthony Warlow is missing, I`m afraid) this video is a MUST for everyone who calls himself interested in `The Wretched`.

There is also a DVD version available. The country code of the DVD is 2 so it can be played with every DVD-Player inside Europe an Japan.
The DVD only supports English subtitles.

In 1989 CHANNEL 5 produced this sixty minutes taking documentation not only about the musical in general but also about the production of the "Complete Symphonic Recording". And showing interviews with Mackintosh, Boublil, Caird and many other and scenes from LesMis-production from all over the world this is in fact a GREAT video.
