The theatre

The Musical-Theatre Duisburg

The picture above shows the Musical-Theatre Duisburg at its heydays when Les Misérables was performed there.
But on November, 28th, 1999 the last curtain fell in Duisburg and Germany was lost of one of the best musicals ever.
As a result some former employees of the theatre founded the initiative MIMUDU (MItarbeiter MUsicaltehater DUisburg) to save the existence of the theatre and to guarantiee future-productions of simmilar musicals in Duisburg.

On October, 12th, 1999 the "Showtheater am Rhein AG" was founded and Reinhard Brussmann (former Javert in Duisburg) was elected as shairman of the board. It is planned, to finance the theatre:

  • Individual events (galas, concerts, movie evenings with live music, house parties, gastronomical events, theme-evenings or theme-weeks etc.)
  • Events in the foyer (Jazz brunch, café house, pianobar, special concert evenings, caberet, performing arts, small musical stage, events for kids etc.)

And so recently time ago the musical "Little Shop of Horrors" was perfomed in the theatre under the new management..
Two more musicals are planned for the future:

  • Cyrano - The Musical
  • Atlantis - Fantasymusical

But these two projects are highly dependent on available sponsors.

Journey
there

For everyone who wants to have a look on the theatre or visit one of the next events you can reach the theatre with your automobile:

From all directions driving on the A3 (Autobahn 3) till you reach the intersection "Duisburg-Kaiserberg". There you have to change to the A40 in direction "Venlo" till you reach the exit
"Duisburg-Ruhrort/Häfen". Leave the Autobahn and keep on the right side. A few hundred meters later you will see the red theatre the exit leads you to. The way to the parking levels is signposted.
